Next up in our blog series, 'Meet the Gate', we're beaming our spotlight on the marvellous, the exceptional, Lindsay Cowan. We caught up with Lindsay over a brew, make one yourself and step inside her role as Production Manager at The Gate Films.
LC: I Started in commercials in 2001 as a PA for Nicky Casey at Vertica, then working for Onward for Colin Offland before he was Chief. I then freelanced for the likes of Equinox/Yellow and various others before I made the leap into Drama for several years for Red Production Company, before again leaping into Soaps - working on programmes like Where the Heart is in the Yorkshire countryside.
I then took time out to have my son Harrison, before coming back into production world. I worked freelance on live, broadcast, commercials, corporates and online content. I was offered a full time position of Production Co-ordinator at Lion Eyes TV working on both shoots and post production again in broadcast, live multi camera shoots for the likes of Universal and the Comedy channels as well as continuing to work on commercials, online content and broadcast programmes. I was promoted to Production Manager and spent 4 years in that role at Lion Eyes before coming to The Gate in 2016.
LC: Good, fast, cheap - you can’t have all 3 - pick 2.
LC: Pay your dues, learn your craft and don’t bullshit
LC: To leave the world a slightly better place than when I entered it.
LC: Not just one but...
Dramas for how organised they are and how slick and efficient they make production.
Live TV for technical knowledge.
Commercials for variety.
Comedy for how fun it is, and to not forget that’s why we got into this business.
LC: Anyone can be a dream client, the best ones are the ones who work in partnership with you.
LC: Be a runner, it teaches you more than you think it does.
