Bensons for Beds felt the need to address the growing demand for audio-visual content, and The Gate was happy to provide the film production muscle they sorely needed.
We helped to bring life to their creative agency’s vision, manage the practical demands of a busy set and produce content worthy of national campaigns.
While Bensons needed to preserve its hard-earned brand equity, there were also practical demands. Throughout the years we worked together, our overarching brief was to deliver more for less without compromise on quality.
Read on to learn how we performed as a film production partner within an agency roster.
Jumping into bed with a Creative Agency
If you have the most innovative and inspired minds in the industry working on your brand, you want to give them the freedom to do what they do brilliantly.
The Gate worked alongside creative agency Public for over six years, bringing AV production expertise to the centre of Benson’s agency roster and supporting the brand’s incredible creative team in realising their visions across all manner of media channels.
We worked closely with Public and Bensons to perfect the way that any film production was scoped, briefed and delivered, allowing for greater transparency, control and efficiency.
Producing content for every purpose
Multi-platform content is something we’re constantly asked about by clients and prospects, and Bensons for Beds was no exception. As a household name brand and the biggest bed retailer in Britain, Bensons needed to reach its audience on the channels they spend most of their time on.
Unsurprisingly, the brand has a comprehensive marketing campaign which incorporates broadcast, social channels, sponsorship, video on demand, e-commerce and product films. Bensons for Beds needed a film production partner to produce distinctive advertising and content assets perfectly designed for use across this range of channels.
Cramming broadcast footage from a TV commercial into Instagram Stories is unlikely to ever work well, and we’ve previously discussed the many benefits of shooting content for multiple platforms.
However, Bensons still had deadlines and budgets to meet, and The Gate Film’s careful planning process ensured that the brand acquired the most content possible. We worked smarter to provide content assets perfectly suited to each platform’s unique look and feel.
Turning projects around before bedtime
Sometimes sales messages change, and our pall star production department reacted to requests from the marketing department at Bensons for Beds at the speed of light!
Our quickest turn around was 48 hours from brief to TVC broadcast – take a moment to let this sink in. That’s just two days. It takes a pretty special team to put this all together, and we’re proud to say The Gate team knocked tight deadlines out of the park on a regular basis.
We used various time-saving approaches, ensuring that we shot all the footage we needed while on set, ran post-production activities smoothly and to deadline, and repurposed content whenever suitable - turning long form content into shorter clips and cropping for various formats. All of these steps contributed to a streamlined film production process.
Becoming a trusted Film Production partner
Over the years, we’ve produced humorous and heart-warming content for the brand, featuring in multi-platform campaigns and showing to nationwide audiences. Most importantly though, we cultivated a strong working relationship between client, creative and production. The result? Perfect harmony on set and off. Bliss!
