Making an automotive ad stand out from the crowd is no easy feat - how do you incorporate eye-catching colour and animation whilst keeping the focus on showcasing all of the car’s flash features? With a stunning creative from M3 agency and the best production team in the biz, we set about making the impossible possible…
The goal of this project was to produce a memorable, bright and eye-catching TV Spot for the brand new electric MG ZS EV to air in time for the new year.
Tracing its history back to 1924, MG is an iconic British motoring brand, famous for building sporty, exciting and great value-for-money cars which are always fun to drive.
MG wanted a TVC to launch their new 100% electric car that would take on a different direction than your traditional car campaign. It needed to highlight all the key features of the car whilst weaving in a creative that stood out from the crowd and was instantly fun and memorable.
Creative duo Shaun Loynds and Stu Perry created the concept and appointed us to work with director Giles Ripley on bringing their unique idea to life – quite literally!
On location in Manchester, the shoot day was all smooth sailing… other than constant rain and high winds we couldn’t complain!
We spent over a month in post production working closely with Flipbook Studio to bring our colourful characters to life. We worked with two illustrators who both offered up their unique styles to each of the characters. The female character was designed by Negritoo, and male character by Juliano Vito.
The result was 1 x 30s & 1x10s TVC, which aired from Boxing Day 2021 across national channels, plus 3x10s cutdowns for YouTube & social.
Creative Directors Shaun Loynds & Stu Perry said:
“The Gate Films - as always – dependable, adaptable and feckin’ amazing at making things happen. Not to mention delivering what you promised and more.”
